ONLINE PAYMENT OF VISA FEES – 13 FEBRUARY 2012

All applications for a UK visa made in Russia must be completed and paid for online in US Dollars from 13 February 2012.

All applications for a UK visa must be completed using our online application system and paid for online in US Dollars before applicants go to one of our 5 visa application centres (VACs) in Russia to submit a printed copy of the application form and biometric data (fingerprints and photograph).

Appointments to submit applications at the visa application centres in Russia are already booked online. The introduction of online payments is part of a wider move to allow almost all our customers to apply and pay for their visas online by 2013/14.

Russian Rugby players to Join London Wasps.

Vladislav Korshunov and Victor Gresev join London Wasps

London Wasps have announced that Russian captain and hooker Vladislav Korshunov and standout number 8 Victor Gresev are joining the club with immediate effect.

Both move from Moscow region's VVA-Podmoskovye and the two will be in the English capital by the weekend. They will be with the former European Champions for the remainder of the season.

London Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young said: "These are two players who impressed at the World Cup and they will add strength in depth to the squad for the rest of the season giving us options in key areas."

Korshunov, 28, has won 58 caps for the Russian national team, scoring four tries since debuting as a 19 year-old in 2002. He captained his side to qualification for their first ever Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, and in three further games at the tournament.

Gresev, 25, debuted in Russia's Rugby World Cup qualification game against Italy in 2006 and has won 38 caps, scoring six tries. He started three games at Rugby World Cup 2011, winning man of the match awards against Italy and Australia and being named as one of the tournament's best back row players by the IRB. He has also been a standout player on the World Sevens Series circuit.

The pair join fellow Russian Rugby World Cup 2011 squad members Vasily Artemyev (Northampton Saints) and Andrey Ostrikov (Sale Sharks) in the Aviva Premiership in England.

bmi announcement due to emergency situation at Domodedovo

Re the bomb explosion in the landside arrivals area at Moscow Domodedovo Airport (DME):

bmi is currently awaiting more information from the authorities in Moscow.
We can confirm that flight BD891 landed safely at the airport at 16:33 local time and the return flight BD894 departed from Moscow Domodedovo Airport at 18:28 local time. All six crew members remained on board the aircraft between flights.

Due to the situation at Moscow Domodedovo Airport, bmi has taken the decision to cancel flight BD895 due to depart 24 January 2011 and the return flight BD896 (departing Moscow at 06.30, 25 January 2011).

bmi intends to operate flight BD891 from Heathrow to Moscow 25 January 2011, but customers should check ‘Flight Status at flybmi.com before departing for the airport for the latest information.

Oxford University Rugby Club to play Slava on September 15th 2010

It has just bee announced that Slava Rugby Club, 13a Seleznevskaya Street, Moscow will host the Oxford University Rugby Team on September 15th 2010. The match will kick off at 18:00.

The BBC is now in negotiations to arrange match tickets for its members and guests. Registration will be set-up on the BBC web-site to book and pay for tickets when they are available. (Hopefully next week).
